Manny kinds of multi color maize are grown at the foot of the Peruvian Andes. Among others, there is one specific kind of dark purple color and aroma. It is called Maiz Morado. It had already been known before the Inca civilization, and its depiction can be found on different ceramic items which date back as far as 2500 years to the Mochica culture. Chicha Morada is a famous, tasty, and very popular drink made of it in Peru.
